Marat V. Zanov, Ph.D.
is a Board Certified Clinical Psychologist and is licensed in several states.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of California, Los Angeles, with highest honors in psychology and received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from University of Southern California.  His dissertation was an empirical study on the fear of flying, and anxiety disorders continue to be among his current clinical and research interests.  Upon completion of his doctorate studies, Dr. Zanov accepted commission as an officer in the United States Air Force where he served for 6 years.  He attained a rank of Captain and was stationed as a Clinical Psychologist at several Stateside and overseas bases, including an active F-16 fighter wing in Europe and a deployment to Afghanistan.  In his clinical work, Dr. Zanov heavily leverages empirically supported treatments and follows the clinical practice guidelines that themselves are derived from rigorous scientific research.  He strives to empower his patients to become their own clinical experimenters and encourages development of self-efficacy through empirical experience in safe but systematic ways.  Dr. Zanov values the importance of therapeutic alliance, strongly believes that patients often need to understand the reasons for their current distress, and consistently promotes the expectation of a positive change as a result of treatment.
